Middle School
As pupils enter Year 2, they make the carefully-managed transition from our Lower School site to our larger Upper School site on Parkway. The Parkway site provides another home-from-home environment, where well-equipped, purpose-built classrooms, a library, Art Studio, Science Lab and halls sit alongside beautiful garden areas and a much-loved and well-used playground, housing specialist play structures including our beautiful tree house. Children also enjoy the use of the extensive fields at Court Park for Games lessons and co-curricular activities.
During Years 2 and 3, children are members of our Middle School. These two year groups join together for assemblies, play times and co-curricular clubs and a Middle School community is fostered in which Year 2 children can learn from Year 3 children, and Year 3 pupils can begin to take on responsibility and leadership roles.
Academic, sporting, musical and dramatic knowledge and skills are acquired at a rapid pace during the Middle School years. Core subjects are taught by class teachers, who develop close and caring relationships with pupils and parents, while specialist teaching increases to include Spanish, music, drama, PE/games, art and computing. Opportunities outside the classroom abound as ever more co-curricular clubs become available too.
My child is always happy to go to school in the mornings – a Year 2 parent.
Throughout their time with us, pupils’ wellbeing and pastoral care is given the highest priority. The Middle School years see pupils take on ever greater responsibility for their own happiness and the happiness of those around them. Our values education programme which runs throughout the school is a reminder that we all create our own community and that each one of us must be responsible citizens, helping to create the harmonious, loving environment in which we wish to live.
